Walkers cover 1,400 miles of Grayshott boundary!!!

On Sunday 28th September the centre of Grayshott was celebrating the wedding of Felicity Cooper and Nicholas Blake in sunshine and high style - but the boundaries were well covered by the Grayshott Scout Group and their annual Boundary Walk.

The second Grayshott Scout Boundary Walk was supported by almost 200 walkers this year.

The superb warm, sunny day was ideal for the seven mile walk around Grayshott's much-varied boundary. Going through dappled glades to heathland paths - through wooded valleys, round lakes and across streams - the route gives the walker constantly varying views and challenges.

"Nothing too strenuous but enough for participants to know they had been involved in something a bit more than a stroll in the park" said Scout leader Dan Miles.

The Scouts had marked the route with signs and stakes, but some signs in a particular area were deliberately removed and altered during the morning." A sad reflection on some people, but just another reason why we should strive to make Scouting an outlet for youthful enthusiasm" said Gordon Sanderson, one of the planners.

The whole troop of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and their leaders were on duty all day providing back up. Two start points and the option of walking either way round the boundary meant that walkers were constantly meeting others and the event is becoming a social occasion as groups either join together or swop tales of exploits en route.

Refreshments were available at The British Legion Hall and The Grayshott Social Club, while Applegarth Farm cafe provided reduced rates for walkers. The Sea Raj restaurant gave all walkers a complimentary bottle of water.

The Walk is another example of how the community of Grayshott pulls together to make living in Grayshott interesting and varied.
